About Us
The Blue Crabs do not exist alone and are grateful for our sister team, the Villages of Urbana Seahawks, and the many volunteers who help to make the summer swim season possible. Established in 2023 as an additional summer swim team for residents of the Villages of Urbana, the Blue Crabs are a part of the Frederick Summer Swim League.
The Blue Crabs are shaped by the following priorities:
- FUN: Summer Swim with the Blue Crabs exists for FUN. Through swimming and spending time together, everything the Blue Crabs do should be enjoyable and rewarding for everyone involved from our littlest swimmers to our parents.
- GROWTH: The Blue Crabs prioritize growth: growth in swimming ability and skill, growth in friendships, growth in character. The Blue Crabs aim to show the benefits of hard work, community, and working together towards a common goal.
- SERVICE: The Blue Crabs are developing a culture of service. We want to model and instill the happiness that comes from pitching in to help, stepping in to meet needs, and taking initiative to help others.
- ENCOURAGEMENT: The Blue Crabs aim to have a culture of encouragement, where accomplishments are recognized, growth is celebrated, and everyone is cheered on!
- COMMUNITY: The Blue Crabs are a community endeavor—it takes a Village!—with our efforts directed toward the good of our children, the good of our families, and the good of our community.
As a community endeavor, the Blue Crabs are led by several of our neighbors who give of their time to make this team a reality. We are grateful for their efforts!
