    Blue Crabs: Week of 7/17-7/22

    Hi Blue Crabs!

We had a very merry meet as we took on the PVYA Brunswick River Rapids! Though the meet was filled with heat, there was still lots of good holiday cheer. Once again, these meets don’t happen apart from the tremendous efforts of so many volunteers giving of their time and energy. Thank you to all of those who have helped both yesterday and over the course of the season! Special thanks to Yun Zhu who did an outstanding job as head clerk of course, and Brad Ortman, who not only volunteered as runner but also literally ran across the neighborhood to get the candy canes for our heat winners! You can view the results from the meet here and photos from the meet will be available soon here.

    DIVISION 4 CHAMPIONSHIP MEET

This week we will be participating in the Division 4 Championship meet at Landsdale (4500 Arboretum Dr., Monrovia, MD 21770). We will be competing against swimmers from Landsdale, Brunswick, and Whittier. The meet will begin at 8 AM, but swimmers should arrive by 6:20 AM and be ready for our warm-up session from 6:30-7:00 AM. Team have been asked to wear their team colors, so let’s rock our Blue Crab Pride!

    • Swimmer Declaration: Whether you plan to attend the meet or not, please take a moment to declare whether your swimmer will be “attending” or “not attending” the meet. Since this is a division championship meet, swimmers are only permitted to participate in up to 3 individual events and only 1 relay. We also have to submit our swim entries a day earlier than normal. So, ***in order to participate in the meet, your swimmer declaration must be completed by tomorrow, (MONDAY), at 9:00 PM.***
    • Volunteer Opportunities: Once again, thank you so much for the part you have played in helping us build a culture of service, fun, and community within the Blue Crabs family. Since this week involves four teams, there are far fewer volunteers we need to provide, but we still have need for just a few more. You can sign up for them here.
    • Additional Information: Landsdale has provided meet information as well as a map with a layout of the set-up for the meet. We will have a team camp area marked on the grassy field behind the pool. Landsdale has also requested that teams carpool if possible since parking will be limited.

    END OF SEASON BANQUET

We are looking forward to a fun event this Saturday night celebrating a fantastic first season for the Blue Crabs! Please RSVP no later than Wednesday, so that we can provide enough food for all families attending. The team will be providing dinner and we are asking families to sign-up to bring drinks and desserts.

We are planning on having exclusive use of the entire pool from 5:00-7:00 PM, while we have fun and eat dinner together. This will be immediately followed by an awards ceremony and slideshow in the Rec Barn from 7:15-8:00 PM. For those who are interested in sticking around, we will wrap up the evening with a movie night.
