Hi Blue Crabs!

We hope you had a wonderful time celebrating the 4^th of July and enjoyed our mid-season break! We have a busy next two weeks as we head toward to finish line of our summer swim season. Here are some dates to keep in mind:

July 11 | The Mighty Mini Meet from 5:00-7:00 PM
July 13 | Away meet at Dearbought
July 20 | Division 4 Championship Meet at Stone Barn
July 21 | End of Season Party

This email contains information about the Mini Meet, our meet at Dearbought this week, Divisional T-Shirt Orders, the amazing raffle, and our practice schedule for this week.

THE MIGHTY MINI MEET

The Mighty Mini Meet will take place on Thursday, July 11 from 5:00-7:00 PM (there will be no practices this day). This meet is for swimmers—both Blue Crabs and Mini Crabs—8 and under. Each lane will have a helper assigned that will be in the water to assist swimmers as needed. We are encouraging all the Mini Crabs swimmers to sign-up for the kickboard race and freestyle. If you are a Blue Crabs swimmer and you have participated in at least two meets, we are requesting that you do not sign-up for the kickboard race and only sign-up for events that you have not finished in the top-3 previously.

SWIMMER ENTRY: Every swimmer who is participating needs to declare themselves as either “attending” or “not attending.” Only those swimmers marked as “attending” by 10:00 PM on Tuesday, July 9, will be eligible to participate. Swimmer Entry will be available by tomorrow morning. We will send out an email when it's ready.

To declare your swimmer for the Mini Meet, follow these instructions:

Start by going to the Swim Meet & Event Sign-Up page and then click on the green "Meet Entry" button located next to the event labeled “Mini Meet.”
Next click the "Edit" button at the bottom of the page.
For each swimmer select an option from the dropdown list next to his/her name: "Attending" or "Not Attending."
Then select the events you would like your swimmer(s) to participate in.
Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP: We also need a handful of volunteers to run this meet. We are encouraging Mini Crab parents to take advantage of these volunteer opportunities. Job signup takes place on our website on the same Meets & Events page where you enter your swimmers. Simply click on the green "Job Sign-Up" button and then you can sign up for a job. Thank you!

SWIM MEET VS. DEARBOUGHT

This Saturday we have an AWAY meet versus the Dearbought Devil Rays. Dearbought has invited us to join them in their theme which is Soccer Moms vs. Barbeque Dads. Let’s have some fun with this and show our team spirit!

The meet is scheduled to begin at 8 AM. Swimmers should arrive by 7:10 AM to check-in with the coaches and warm-up. the pool address is 100 Eli Court, Frederick, MD 21701. Parking is available in the pool lot and along any street. Please do not park in the condo parking lot next to the pool.

Our team area will be on the left side of the pool deck, on the shallow end of the pool. If we need more space, we can set up in the field to the left of the pool entrance.

Swimmer Entry: Whether you plan to attend the meet or not, please take a moment to declare whether your swimmer will be “attending” or “not attending” the meet. In order to participate in the meet, this must be completed no later than Tuesday, July 9 at 10:00 PM.

A couple of other notes for the meet: the concession stand at Dearbought will have an assortment of items including pancakes and pastries. They accept cash, PayPal, and credit. Finally, there are still a few volunteer opportunities for this meet. If you can take a moment to sign-up to help out, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

DIVISIONAL T-SHIRTS

T-Shirts for the divisional championship are now available for pre-order. The store closes on Friday, July 12, so don’t wait on ordering. At the meet on July 20, there will be shirts available but only in black and gray.

THE AMAZING RAFFLE

As we mentioned last week, Urbana Orthodontics is providing one Blue Crabs family with a complimentary orthodontic treatment (read more about it in our last post here). If you are interested in participating in this raffle, or if you just want to support the Blue Crabs, you can enter to win this orthodontic treatment by purchasing raffle tickets in our merchandise store here. Tickets will be available for purchase for $5/ea until July 18 and there is no limit on the number of tickets you can purchase. We will select the winner at our end of season party on July 21.
