    2024 Season Wrap-Up

    Hi Blue Crabs!

From the start, the Blue Crabs have been a community endeavor, so thank you for the part you have played in making our second season memorable, fun, and successful!

This post is our season wrap-up, which includes a brief recap of the Division Championship, the All-Star Meet, and our Awards Banquet, as well as  a look ahead to 2025, and a link to our end of season survey.

    DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP

It’s hard to image a better conclusion to our 2024 season than our victory at the divisional championship that capped off an undefeated season for the Blue Crabs! Thank you to all of the volunteers who made our meet possible, from the Crab Daddies to our Automation team, from our set-up and take-down team to our timers, from our ribbon-writers to our best-in-class clerk of course, we came together and ran an outstanding, efficient, and fun meet that would not have been possible without so many of us coming together to make it happen. Thank you!

We had an astounding 143 improved times across the 109 swimmers who participated in the meet and set 22 new team records! You can view the full results, check out photos from the meet, and see a complete list of our top performers.

    ALL-STAR MEET RECAP

The Blue Crabs were well-represented at the FSSL All-Star meet, a competition between top swimmers from across the league. Over the course of the season, we had 33 swimmers qualify as all-stars and 26 of those were able to compete at the meet. Despite a less-than-ideal pool in less than ideal conditions, we still managed to achieve 15 improved times across these 26 swimmers! You can see the full results here.

Blue Crabs swimmers finished in the top 3 in 11 different individual events! A big congratulations goes to Mason Garmon (13-14 – 2nd in 50m free; 3rd in 50m breast), Matix Garmon (11-12 – 2nd in 50m back; 3rd in 100m free), Alberto Nevares (9-10 – 2nd in 25m free; 2nd in 25m back; 2nd in 25m fly), Carmen Nevares (11-12 – 2nd in 100m IM; 2nd in 50m breast), Miles Thomas (6 & under – 2nd in 25m free), and Jarrett Zhou (13-14 – 2nd in 100 IM). We also had a remarkable third place finish in the boys 18 & under freestyle crescendo relay with a team comprised of swimmers all 13 and under. Way to go Eric Yi, Alberto, Matix, Jarrett, and Mason! The future is bright for the Blue Crabs!
